A high steppe massif on the Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid border, made a national park in 2010 for its mountain wildlife and its fossil beds, which produced the first plesiosaur found in Tunisia. The mountain has been a closed military zone in recent years.

A PERMIT IS NEEDED TO VISIT

- Yes, from the Direction Generale des Forets. Mount Mghila has also been listed among the closed military zones of central Tunisia, so clearance from the authorities is essential.
- GUIDE
- Required in practice; do not walk in unaccompanied.
- SEASON
- Spring and autumn, subject to the security situation.
- RULES
- Check the current status before travelling; access to the massif has been barred during army operations.
